Too Bad 'You Knit What?" Is Defunct.

The spring Interweave Knits Preview is up.

I was thinking of doing a critique of it - and there are certainly three things I like.....okay, more like two. Aleita Shell, Bleeding Hearts Stole. But I realized that, overall, I could sum up in one word - a rarity for me.

Meh.

Only two for me, too. Printed Silk Cardigan is not too bad and the Bleeding Hearts is nice. A couple of them looked decent until you click the bonus pictures.

Meh is a perfect response. Not one garment calls to me, I find them frilly, shapeless and unattractive. Disappointing indeed.

I do like the White Witch winter mittens in the freebies.

Hmmmm. I wouldn't call them all shapeless. Or frilly. There are definitely some that I don't like (Holly Jacket, Frock Camisole, Banded Peasant Blouse), but I think that's mostly because those would look absolutely HORRIBLE on me. ;o)

For once, though, there are things that I would like to knit (if I had unlimited time and yarn budget): Linen Trumpet Skirt, Flutter Sleeve Cardigan and Mirabella Cardigan. (Although because I have a rather more well-defined hourglass shape than the models, I'm afraid I'd have to do some substantial alterations to make a flattering fit on some of them.)

It's interesting to see how people are drawn to different things, isn't it?

I dropped my sub from IK because they kept printing things that I just would NEVER knit, and didn't like the look of. I've been contemplating trying it again, but I think I'm changing my mind. I'll stick with single patterns I find online, I think. ;o)

Sorry annalea, that should read frilly, shapeless OR unattractive... rather than all three at once.

And you're right, we are all drawn to different things, thank goodness! Diversity makes the world a fascinating place.

Wow. I've got to agree with you. Just a couple of things really struck me as something I'd get any use out of. But I felt this way about the last issue as well!

No, I'm right there with you. There was definitely a theme with sweaters, and if you aren't slender and small-breasted I don't see many of them looking good on you... So, I'm out of contention.

Yep, more than likey I won't shelling out any cash for this one, I didn't buy the last one either. I find more than enough patterns to 'collect'( cuz I have so many I'll never actually knit them)for free online.

I've always liked IK because I think the knits are classic with a touch of trendy. But, I'm not crazy about much in this issue. I DO like the Flutter Sleeve Cardigan a lot.

Jo, I agree - most of the designs do lean toward the sylph-like. I would look as broad as two axe-handles if I tried to carry off a flutter sleeve...though I can think of several in my acquaintance who would look charmingly.

Luckily there are no shortages of patterns out there - I'm with you Olga.
