Today was my FIL's birthday. Just after we phoned to wish him many happy returns, he called us back: the hospital in London had paged him - they have a kidney for him. He goes in at 5.30 tomorrow morning (January 20) and, if the final tests all go well, he'll have a new kidney by tomorrow night.
If you have a minute to pray for him, wish him well, or cross whatever you usually cross, that would be great. I'd appreciate it.
I'll let you know what happens...and also Pssst.....consider becoming an organ donor.
==================
ETA: David waited 15 hours for an OR to open up, and went into surgery at 9.00 PM. The kidney was a 'perfect match'...all went well, and he is in recovery...

Praying! That is great news!
Great news but a bit nerve wracking too I guess. I'm praying for your family. I reckon you go into a time warp when you enter hospital, all that waiting around for test results etc seems to take forever.

A friend of mine had a kidney and pancreas transplant (or at least a kidney+something) transplant and it made an amazing difference to her life. I signed up to the transplant list immediately.
Hope all goes well for your FIL. My MIL had renal failure and underwent dialysis for over 20 years. Thoughts and prayers for a seccessful outcome.

Wow. That is some birthday present. Sending positive thoughts his way, and yours as well (I'm sure it's hard to be so far away with this happening). All the best.
kidneys= when tirzah getssick, her kidneys stop, prednisone could help get her back to ok in 2-3 weeks, BUT marshmallow extract has her back in 2-3 days....ask your Dr and try it out. it also stopsUTI and bladder infections
other than that i am praying!
Sending prayers to your FIL and your whole family. Praying that the surgery goes smoothly and that the recovery is quick and everyone is home and in good shape in no time.
ooh wow. good luck to FIL.
Glad to hear everything went well Shannon. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
