What, you're still here?

Feast or famine, eh?

I've been busy with a few things. I'd like to say it was all productive, but in reality I've been drying my eyeballs out staring at the Ravelry forums. Fora. I tell you what - people sure do get worked up. I joined the BID - Big Issues Debate forum - and you could just sit there all day watching the hissy fits. Some of the threads are interesting, many are simply virtual Molotov cocktails that get tossed into an already hot crowd.

But it hasn't all been "Are you in favour of same-sex marriage?" and "I feel Creationism should be taught in public school science classes". I've been doing some ACTUAL things as well.

My friend recently opened a gourmet food store, and she is offering a Middle Eastern cooking class this month. She asked me if I would come and dance at it.

Belly dancing. By myself.

At first I figured I'd decline, but I decided life is short and realistically, any kind of bellydancing looks good to people - objectively, I'll probably get more admiration than derision. So I'm going to go for it. (Ack!)

My daughter took a picture of me practicing.

And I got the loveliest surprise the other day. A USPS priority box from a (mostly) non-commenting, non-blogging Reader, CHOCK FULL of beautiful and yummy things. Look!

See how happy it made my daughters. (Though you can only see one of them in this picture.)

Thank you so much, Anna from Chicago - and to your question (and I quote) "Maybe you'd like some Lorna's Laces? They're from Chicago. Let me know!", an extreme "Will you marry me?"

After all - it's legal.

That may be the silliest question one knitter has ever asked another knitter. No offense, Anna; you're wonderful. But really, how cute!

And bully for you for forging ahead with the bellydance. After all, what use is having a skill like that if you don't show it off?!

Oh, Shan, that makes me want to take bellydancing classes again. Although it doesn't make me want to dance in public! But more power to you for doing it.

If I tried to bellydance at the gourmet food shop the folks taking the class would be laughing and puking all over the place.

Go on with your bad self!!!

I'm so amazed that you are willing to shake your thang in front of strangers. Or maybe that is easier than doing the same in front of people you know. Either way, you are brave

I'm the same way with forums . . . I have to be really, really careful. Mostly because I hate dry eyeballs, but also because my family gets lonely. ;o)

I love the cooking class. Vern and I were just pouring over the list of cooking classes offered at an organic store on the Puget Sound just south of you, wishing we could go take most of them. I'd love to learn what your friend's class has to teach . . . and to see you belly dance!

Glad to see you posting again. I should probably get off my duff and post some content soon . . .

You're "it", if you're up for a meme.

I know this one is rather ubiquitous, so you can take it or leave it. ;o)

I hear you on the dry eyeballs issue. I've put up a sticky on the monitor which reads, "YOU'LL NEVER GET THIS TIME BACK!"

It's proven ineffective so far.

Hmmmm, my belly dances too, usually when going over a bump in the road. But maybe that's more jiggling ... freestyle, than dancing.

Nice package, look at that luscjous paper. And sour lightning bug gummies -- too cool!!

Good on you for the belly dancing.

I didn't know polygamy was legal here! ;-)

Kate: Maybe I should have said "Will you have a commitment ceremony with me?"

Thanks for the picture of the beautiful smiling girl, and thanks for honoring me with a capital "R". I'll politely decline your offer, because I can't imagine you need that much ornery in your life. Were you thinking sockweight Lorna's, or something heavier? I'm knitting a pair of boot socks in Shepherd Worsted (Black Purl colorway), and I'm enjoying that experience. (I also hate to mention this after your post on Monday, but I have a skein of Helen's Lace in the Bittersweet colorway that is longing for a worthy knitter. She keeps telling me I'm not it. Needless to say, if you take that option you might have to snip off a yard or two at the end before you embark on your own project.)

This reminds me of the words to a Toby Mac song," Shake it, don't break it, took your momma nine months to make it."
