Somebody stop me.

You know what's weird? When I watch a movie from earlier than, say, 2001, I can't get over how yellow everyone's teeth are. Take a look at Michelle Pfeiffer in Midsummer Night's Dream, for example. And I just watched Groundhog Day, and stared at Andie MacDowell's mouth the entire time.

I may be incorrect here, but don't most high-tech DVD/Blu-Ray players have a "whiten teeth" setting in their colour adjustment menu? (If not, they should.) That and "update coif". That would be a good setting, too.

Hi Shannon,
There's something to be said for the old black and whites, n'est-ce pas? Joe

Dave Hingsburger did NOT say that, I did. But I don't know what to do about it so now there's two from DH. Joe

Oh yeah, back when we thought natural colored tooth enamel was acceptable, as opposed to every one on screen having a mouthful of pristine sparkling white high grade ceramics.

My God we were naive.

I, on the other hand, have become increasingly obsessed with pointing out how unnaturally white performers and especially newscasters teeth are. It's getting a bit bizarre.

I'm with Mary Lou; white teeth still weird me out. It's like seeing girls with BLONDE hair. The kind that has to be out of a bottle, because one girl had that hair, a thousand years ago, and it's just not the case anymore.

I'm tired and have had coffee. Pardon my insanity.

I haven't seen Groundhog Day in awhile--who's teeth are worse, Andie's or the groundhog's?

Count me in with Mary Lou and Kristine - the white teeth seriously freak me out and I can't help staring at them.

I've noticed they don't use 'soft lihgting' anymore in a movie when they do the romantic close-up bits.

Where I come from in the Rockies, it's a mark of wealth to HAVE teeth after 40.

I had not even noticed that.

Hmm. . . should I whiten my teeth before your visit?

Still laughing at Carlarey's comment.

Oh lordy, and I had just decided this morning that I didn't need to spend $$ on one of those tooth-whitening kits. Guess I'd better suck it up and buy stock in Colgate.
