Father, Brother, Uncle and Hero
1919 to 2008

Fear no more the heat of the sun,
Nor the furious winter's rages;
Thou thy worldly task hast done,

Home art gone, and ta'en thy wages;

Golden lads and girls all must,

As chimney-sweepers, come to dust.

Goodbye, Uncle Eddie

Please ignore my callousness as I mentioned your loss after I blubbered on about my love of Cymbeline...eesshhh..tacky!!
I just read the obituary and he sounded like he lived an interesting life.
May he rest in peace.

It's okay, Jenny...there's nothing wrong with loving Shakespeare...it's in my plan too, along with the Christina Rossetti sonnet "Remember".

Provided someone can read it through without bursting into uncontrollable sobs.

Shannon, thanks so much for your posting about Uncle Eddy. I will never forget that voice of his (talk about a stage whisper!) The quote from Bill S. was perfect, too. That guy had a way with words, eh? Thanks too for the emails about Uncle Eddy, I didn't even know he had the medal although I knew he was overseas. My dad, with his coke bottle glasses, ended up in Tofino building an airstrip, then hospitalized with pneumonia. Ah, the Jobes'.

Hey Shannon, I remember meeting your Uncle Eddie once when Joe and I were making our way up island from University. We were travelling with Gail and Rene in the back of their pick up truck. They stopped for a visit with Eddie and Vera (I think her name was) and I found them to be very gracious ... particularly as we stopped in without calling first. I was astounded at how much your Uncle and your Bobo looked alike. That Jobes gene is pretty strong. Thank you for this tribute it meant a lot to Joe and I. Lovely it was.
