Dear Universe: what are you trying to tell me?

After I ran out of yarn for the Gothic Spire socks, I decided to go with Kate Gilbert's "Marina Piccola". I realized that I had the perfect yarn in my stash - Sweet Georgia's superwash in "Life Aquatic". About halfway through turning the heel, I read on my Sockapalooooza recipient's blog that she, like me, used to be a competitive rower. With the blue colour and the wavy pattern, the socks seemed more perfect than ever. I was happy. I felt a certain peaceful serendipity about the whole thing.

Then, when my joy was at its zenith, tragedy struck. What do you think is possibly, maybe, about to happen?

What do you think are my chances? I'd say, not very good.

PS: Sweet Georgia is on about a year-long hiatus and isn't making any more yarn. I can't find it on eBay. I can't find it on Google. My Obi-Wan hope is a shop in Windsor which, according to one blogger, had some Life Aquatic as of 9 days ago. But all their yarn has been 40% off since then, which lengthens the odds somewhat. They open tomorrow at 9:00 AM Eastern...this should be interesting.

PPS: The suspense is killing me.

PPPS: I'm not doing Sockapalooza 5 next year.

Oh noooooooo! Nice blue toes, though.

PS. I want to read your take on Order of the Phoenix but I haven't seen it yet. Talk about suspense...

Ha! I spent an hour when I should have been doing other things, carefully curing my peds for that very shot.

So thanks for noticing.

Do the toe in an off white or some other colour and make it look like sea spray,( dipped the toe in the ocean idea) just make it origanal and keep going.
Poor you, You sure are having sock problems

Oh no! I hope you can find the missing yarn or at least something that coordinates well for heels and toes!

Could you use a different yarn for the toes? Or are you a complete sock short?

i was thinking a darker blue for the toe for deeper water
i would try to keep going! it looks so great!

No, I have another skein, it's just the toes I am missing.

Windsor is sold out. I have one last resort, but they are closed on Tuesdays.

I will try to find a complementary yarn for the toes, but I'm worried it will look lame. I guess I've nothing to lose by trying it though, since it looks even lamer without toes.

Or you could tell your sock pal that these have no toes 'cuz these are flip flop socks!!!!

You could knit the rest of the foot in flesh coloured yarn or wool or skein or floss or whatever the hell real knitters call it. Then knit in little red painted toenail-like bits. Creepsters!!!

Can you tell I'm on my fourth glass of wine?

So hoping you find the yarn you need. That sock looks great, and it would be so sad not to be able to finish it.
